Created in 1997, GITEP SCITT is well established and very highly regarded, offering QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) with PGCE (Post Graduate Certificate in Education), School Direct Fee Paying and School Direct Salaried routes into teaching. It is a unique collaboration between all the secondary schools in Gloucestershire who work together in a SCITT (school-centred initial teacher training provider). GITEP’s Management Committee includes headteachers, former headteachers and former teachers from various schools in the county, as well as a University of Bristol representative, all of whom share a long experience with, and commitment to, initial teacher training.
The management committee reports on teacher training at all meetings of the Gloucestershire Association of Secondary Headteachers (GASH Ltd), which is dedicated to teacher training and professional development, to ensure that all schools are fully involved in teacher training.
