NQT Programme

This programme has been designed to support new professionals with the opportunity to gain experience in meeting the Teachers Standards. The NQT programme offers both subject-specific and core elements, all of which are delivered by subject specialists.

Please note the delivery of the NQT Programme has been adjusted this year to meet the current Covid-19 restrictions in place.

The NQT programme is currently free of charge to all Gloucestershire secondary schools.

Programme Overview

The programme is made up of:

  • Subject Specific elements led by an experienced Subject Tutor
  • Support phone call with an experienced Subject Tutor
  • A virtual conference
  • A range of courses on core elements of school life such as behaviour management (delivered virtually for Autumn 2020 term)

As well as valuable opportunities to learn from experienced colleagues, the programme allows NQTs to network with colleagues in other schools, allowing the exchange of ideas and resources.

Subject Specific Sessions
These sessions will be led by a subject specialist during the Autumn term, virtually between 4pm – 5:30pm. This session will give NQTs an overview of the full programme, the opportunity to remotely network with subject colleagues and to develop planning for the forthcoming events with the Subject Tutor. Support Phone Call
A one-hour slot for a phone call will be scheduled with your Subject Tutor.  This 1-2-1 call will give you the opportunity to discuss your personal experience and highlight any concerns you have. 

NQT Teaching Conference
A virtual half-day conference in which several experienced practitioners have been invited to lead on a variety of topics. To book your place on the NQT Teaching Conference please select NQT Conference from the left-hand menu and follow the booking link.

Managing Behaviour
A two-hour virtual session of support with behaviour management strategies and the opportunity for additional one to one coaching in school. To book your place on the Managing Behaviour session please select Managing Behaviour from the left-hand menu and follow the booking link.

SEN
Two half-day sessions designed to develop and share knowledge about Special Educational Needs. These sessions are delivered by specialists from Gloucestershire Educational Psychology Service.
